Large scale pilot program for river aeration

The European Union conducted competitive selection to provide aeration for the “De Dommel” river system in the Eindhoven region of The Netherlands. FlowMixer was selected based on both O2 ppm and energy use performance.
This large scale pilot of the FlowMixer was partly financed by EC (European Commission) and done in collaboration with the Municipality of Eindhoven, Waterschap de Dommel and the Technical University of Eindhoven.

Rivers suffering from low oxygen conditions caused by sewage discharges, agricultural run-off, or heavy rain will require water aeration.


Aeration provides an oxygen-rich environment in the pond, promoting a healthy habitat for fish and other aquatic life. 


Aeration in lakes provides oxygen to bacteria for treating and stabilizing the water body. Oxygen is needed by the bacteria to allow bio-degradation.


Fountain aeration will keep the water clean and fresh. Without sufficient dissolved oxygen, degradation occurs and the biological process convert hydrogen and sulfur to form hydrogen sulfide and methane.

Fish Farms

Aeration is needed to counter harmful algae blooms and to promote a healthy habitat for fish and other aquatic life. It will also improve poor water quality caused by tarps/lice skirts.
